Visit to Cape Horn

Sir Ranulph Feinnes, John Simpson and RKJ are heading to Cape Horn this December in Skip Novak's "Pelagic"     The objective is to film the non sailors being introduced  to RKJ's environment in what are argueably the most feared waters in the world.       The team will fly to Ushuaia to join the yacht, then sail to Puerto Williams in Chile, before exiting the Beagle Channel and heading south to Cape Horn.     If opportunity presents itself a landing will be made on Cape Horn island itself, and RKJ is keen to check the island against the description given by Parson Fletcher of the Island, christened Elizabeth island, from which Sir Francis Drake could see no land to the south, thus discovering an alternative route, avoiding the Magellan Strait, to the Pacific Ocean.
The 55 minute programme being made by the BBC will be screened in March 2009.
